This is a question that needs answering. In the context of the local church, there are many potential activities that can take place on a given Sunday. In fact, there are many potential activities that can take place in a given week. But here is the salient question: How many of these activities are truly biblical or even necessary? To make it a bit more personal, how many of these activities actually contribute to the accomplishment of the mission and vision of the local church? These are all questions that must be considered if the church is to stand any chance of making a difference for the sake of the gospel.
I don’t intend to write some lengthy epistle outlining my personal theology of the church, but these thoughts are some of the fruit of conversations of which I have been a part today. How biblical do we really want to be in the local church? How unselfish are we prepared to be with our own personal “pet” ministries? First order theological convictions notwithstanding, how willing are we to hold things with an open hand? Questions that need answering. #QTNA
